Bolivia's first Tannat and first internationally awarded wine! A big, bold red that is perfection with a steak or to end a beautiful evening.
"Tannat can range from bright, light and fruity to (more often) rough-and-tumble rustic. Aranjuez manages to add sophistication and panache. The vineyards are at an altitude of 2,000 meters, or about 6,600 feet, where intense sunshine combines with cool temperatures to ripen the fruit while preserving acidity and freshness. The wine spent six months in barrel. I enjoyed this red over two or three days, and it kept getting better. " - Washington Post, Rated 3.5/4 Stars
Blend: 100% Tannat
Winery: Aranjuez
Region: Tarija, Bolivia
Sub-Region: Santa Ana
Notes: Bolivia's first gold medal wine! Full-bodied and delicious dark fruit. Darker nose, blackberry, plum heat, earthy tones, rich red fruit opens up over time on the pallet. Best left open to breathe. A surprising amount of acid. Tart cherry and bit of fresh cranberry juice, dried figs. Earthy floral balance out the fruit. Cedar like tannins on finish.
Pairing: Amazing with fatty foods but great on it’s own, best with air
